Our CIO Roundtable on April 26, 2017 was a huge success!

San Diego’s AITP Chapter held its Annual CIO Round-table discussion on April 26th, 2017.

We had a sold out event with a packed audience to learn what CIOs are facing and come away with some takeaways to impart to the IT Community.

Thank you to Steve Romeo for moderating for the 3rd year in a row!

Thank you to  Ram, ErikRaviBob,and for your insightful and lively conversation and taking time out of your very busy schedules to share with us.

Here are some takeaways from the panel.

For those aspiring to move to a senior leadership position;

  • Determine the top 3 business problems you can help solve
  • Maintain a positive perspective and embrace change.
  • Make tangible improvements to the business/operations
  • Listen and be humble.  Observe and then learn how to automate business process.  Even automating lower level processes will have an impact.
Hot spots that are on these CIO’s minds today;
  • Data and system integrations, leveraging Cloud technologies
  • Always looking for a competitive advantage by integrating the right tools to help the business
  • Digital Service, Security and AI. If you don’t embrace digital technology, you will be a dinosaur and become extinct.  Finding ways to revoluttionize business paradigms is key (e.g. Uber, AirBnB).
  • Having a seat at the C suite table and making technology a business pillar/differentiator
Next up is the Top Tech Awards event on May 11, for which AITP is a partner, and our annual Cloud Computing Conference on Thursday, June 29th, at the Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley.

2017 Charity Golf Event Call for Planning Committee Volunteers

alt

We are excited to start planning for our 2017 Charity golf tournament based on a successful first year.  We raised just over $5000 for a local charity with about 70 golfers and just under 100 attendees!   In 2017, we will be evaluating Sep, Oct or Nov for the event.   Our goal is to make the AITP Charity Golf Tournament the premier IT Golf event in San Diego in collaboration with all technology professionals.

We are looking for AITP members and IT professionals with a passion for creating a successful golf event.  This includes a core group of volunteers that will be meeting in person and on conference calls throughout 2017 to:

  • Select a golf course and food/beverage coordination
  • Recruit Golfers
  • Recruit Sponsors
  • Develop Signage
  • Coordinate "day-of" volunteers
  • Photography
  • Help with event marketing
  • We will also be looking for "day of" volunteers.

2015 Conference Followup

(Article submitted to the AITP "Information Executive" for national distribution by Chuck Brown)

Lucky Number Seven – AITP-San Diego Chapter’s “Cloud Computing & Beyond”

The seventh annual conference had a broader scope than the prior cloud-oriented events, including additional presentations on technology trends in the areas of Big Data, IoT and Innovative IT.  Over 300 attendees gathered on October 29 to hear 25 IT professionals and business leaders (presenters and panelists) discuss key topics and strategies revolving around our IT industry.  The conference prides itself on bringing together a community of thought leaders sharing case studies and industry trends in a variety of different industries and organizations.  The conference also had a wide variety of sponsors – BMC Software, Century Link, Cox Communications, Scale Matrix, Teradata, Trend Micro and many more. Local associations, including IIBA, PMI, WITI and Connect (a consortium for guiding entrepreneurs and startups) were conference partners. This year’s conference shows our growth as a summit with broader IT industry trends and as a premier event in the region.
